As of July 1, 2022 Notary Commissioning is handled by the IL Secretary of State's office.  For any applications processed after July 1, the commission will be sent directly to the Notary applicant.  There is no longer a need to register the signature with the County Clerk's office.

The Illinois Secretary of State processes all notary public applications. You can print an application to become a notary public at the Secretary of State's website:

ILSOS Notary page https://www.ilsos.gov/departments/index/notary/home.html

or call 217-782-7017.
